At
Lincoln Center watching The New York City Ballet:
On
February 14, I went to watch a Ballet
Show named Coppelia at Lincoln Center. This is a comedy presented by the Ballet
Company of New York. An admirable performance lasting three acts to the sounds
of an orchestra in sync with each character in the story.
Based
on a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, this delightful tale presents a budding romance
between two villagers, Frantz and Swanilda, alongside the curious workings of
their eccentric neighbor Dr. Coppelius, a mad inventor who has taken to
creating life-like automatons.
Infatuated
at the sight of the inventor's new doll, Frantz sneaks into Dr. Coppelius'
workshop, and mayhem ensues.
Coppelia
was a show of light and soft movements, with details in each choreographed step.
