Post 1 - Nascimento

Hello, guys!

First of all I want to introduce myself. I'm Rita Nascimento from São Luís- Maranhão. São Luís is a small island in the northeast of Brazil. So, this is my third day in New York! Yesssss! I'm studing English in the "city that never sleeps". Well, I am participating the PDPI that is a program to train English teachers. So, I’ll use this blog to share a little bit about how my experiences are being here. I am fascinated with everything that I am learning. I am studying at St. John's University in Manhattan. In the morning I have class with Dorothy. She is very competent and is helping us to improve ours skills and become more confident in speaking English. This afternoon I had a class with the PDPI coordinator, Aaron Hoyer, a very good professor that teaches us how to use a blog to improve our classes in Brazil. Well, it has been a challenge to me because I am not good with technology and this tool will be a plus in my classes and my students will learn more.

This experience has been amazing! I am feeling like an American student, living in a student's house, taking the subway to go to the university... and I am really enjoying living the so called "American way of life". I really have to thank God for making my dream come true!
