Today we had our first field trip. It was a
tour on The New York Public Library. The group was split and the first
ones left at 10.30 and the second at 1 p.m. Right after we got there, we were
welcomed by this adorable old lady who had a smiling face. She was such an
amazing figure. She took us around several parts of the building: study rooms,
research rooms, exhibitions rooms, and others. She had so much to say about
everything. It seems that she loves what she does. She knows every single
detail about her workplace. And from all the rooms we visited, the children's
got my attention. At the entrance, there is a sign saying that books play a
very important role in child's development. And nowadays, kids are losing this
love for books. They prefer to play video games, listen to their iPod's and use their electronic devices. That's why the message - WHY CHILDREN`S BOOKS MATTER! We, as teachers and parents, must keep this in mind. We learn from books. They have to be around. So next time you buy a kid a gift – get a him a book. He
will be thankful the rest of his life.
