POST 1- GOMES PAULA JANAINA 

PDPI 2014 - THOSE WHO BELIEVE...ALWAYS REACH!!!

 I've always wanted to study abroad, to make an exchange and I couldn't afford a course. For some times I saved money to do it, but gave it up for others conquers, such as college, an own house, a brand new car.... but the dream of being in the USA, mainly in New York has always been in my heart!

I didn't Know about this partnership between Brazil and US government: PDPI until the day I enter my car and the radio turned on automatically... The program on the radio was: "A Voz do Brasil" which is is a channel from the Government to Brazilian People, to inform, relate and comment daily decisions of Brazil Politicians.

I should say that many people in my country aren't used to listen to it, so am I!

That day when The radio turned on, The speaker was talking about a group of 540 teachers who had taken a Toelf Test and got a scholarship to stay 6 weeks in some USA Universities for an English Refinement Course.

I cried...that could be my chance!!!

Suddenly the Female Radio Speaker announced the next test, as well as the necessary items to apply for it!   It was like a God present on my hands...

I'm determined and brave...on October, 10th I've done a Multishow Project with my students with 10 Broadway musical presentations, to celebrate the 50 anniversary of the Catholic School where I teach, with the 10 Most famous musicals of the last 5 decades.... All of this... and I've never been to Broadway theaters, kkkk!

I'm from a very small town named Barao de Cocais, Minas Gerais, land blessed by Sao Joao Batista. I took the test, got the schoolarship and among 97 candidates I'm the only one woman from Minas Gerais in St.John's University,  in my belief : been in a GREAT UNIVERSITY like ST.JOHN'S in NYC is not a coincidence, it's a GOD PLAN, which makes me really happy and proud!

I think PDPI.2014 is a great opportunite to improve my English Skills and my classes in Brazilian Public and Private Schools.

I will do my best to learn more and more and share the adquired knowledges with the other teachers in my town as well as all my students.  I thank God, Brazilian and US Government in the person of Fullbright: Luis Pedroso and Aaron Royer, PDPI Coordinator for the best Education Chance I've ever had in my life!
