Post 1 - Freitas

Hi, folks!

My name is Lucelia Freitas and I'm a Brazilian teacher that is participating the PDPI. I'm goint to talk to you about my history.
I have many dreams and one is realizing now: to know a city in the United States. It's a perfect time because my dream came true here, in New York! When I decided to enroll me in the selection to PDPI, I only wanted to test my English in the TOELF... I never imagined to graded to the Program. I was so happy with the result and, after a long travel, I'm here, at the St. John's University, in New York.
Today is my third day in this amazing town and I want to share an experience with you: in the first day, a group of Brazilian teachers, including me, went to Times Square... It's an incredible place. I loved it! I have never seen so much neon sign in the same place... Stores of all kind of things, beautiful squares... I went to a WONDERFUL place - a museum called Madame Tussauds... It was a perfect time. In my country, we don't have a museum like this.

After that, one part of the group went back to our accommodation, and my friend Adriana and I went to discover the 5th Avenue... It's a nice place, too. When we decided to go back to home, a "little" problem happened with us: we lost in the subway! I looked the map bottom-up and top-down, but I didn't undestand anything.

I confess that I was desperate! Thanks God, Adriana was quiet. She had two experiences like this: one in Toronto, Canada, and the other in Miami. She became so famous in our group after this event!

Last but not least, I want to thank to God, to my family, to my boyfriend, to new friends that I'm making in this Program, to the Brazilian Government, to St. John's University, in special to my Coordinator Aaron Royer, for this opportunity!

Hugs!

Teacher Lucelia Freitas.
